Network Marketing Internet Business and Google’s +1 Button
I know that most people know that Google’s +1 Button has been around now, but I’m surprised at how many network marketing internet businesses have not attached this “magic little button” to their websites. I think the longer they wait, the more sorry they will be.
You see, Google has been wanting to get into the social media game for some time now, and Google couldn’t let the Facebook Likes Button go unchallenged (By the way, to read more about the Facebook Likes Button, read my article An Internet Income Opportunity Using Viral Blog Posts).
So, Google came out with their +1 Button.
No one is really certain where Google is going with this button or exactly what they are going to do with it, but one thing that I’ve found is that my blogs and pages get indexed faster if I have a Google +1 Button on them. After all, it’s a Google reference vote… so I would recommend that if you have a network marketing internet business or just an ordinary website, that you add the Google +1 Button to your pages and posts.
There is discussion among some of the SEO gurus that Google intends to use this button in giving their rankings to websites, pages, and posts… I’m not sure exactly how they will do this, but it does make some sense. After all, Google tries to return the most relevant listings to a user when they do a search, so Google may consider sites with a lot of Google +1 votes as being very relevant.
Adding the Google +1 Button to your websites is easy. If you are using WordPress for your websites (I’m a HUGE fan of WordPress), just go to your WP-ADMIN area, go to Plugins, click ADD NEW, and type in “Google +1 Button”. There are several plugins that you can use, but I prefer the one called the Google +1 Button Automator… just click ADD ON to the one you choose and don’t forget to activate it.

Adding Google’s +1 Button has zero cost to you, and if you do have a network marketing internet business and if Google does start using the results from this little button to determine how pages should rank, you’re going to be very sorry that you didn’t add it sooner.
Key Income Opportunity Home Based Business Secrets
The key ingredient to a successful income opportunity home based business is getting lots of traffic to your website. Now, there are two ways to do that:
1. Pay for that traffic by using Google Adwords (or, something similar to it), or
2. Getting your website ranked highly on the search engines so that your website gets loads of FREE TRAFFIC.
Both of these ways work. Unfortunately, it’s expensive to pay for that traffic and unless you’re a Master at Google Adwords, you’ll rarely make a profit.
That’s why I stay away from Google Adwords…besides, I like getting FREE TRAFFIC…it just takes longer to do.
Let’s talk about how to get FREE TRAFFIC…lots of it.
SEO Is The Key Secret Of An Income Opportunity Home Based Business
To get a lot of FREE TRAFFIC to your website you have to get your website ranked on the first page of the search engines for your keyword terms. To do that, you have to two things correctly…on-page optimization and off-page optimization.
On-page optimization only accounts for about 20-30% of how well the search engines will rank your website. That’s not much, but it is still important.
In this article, I don’t want to talk much about on-page optimization. Besides, a few months back I wrote an article about this and if you want to learn more about it, you can go there and read it now. The article is called Internet Income Opportunitys On-Page SEO Tips.
Off-page optimization accounts for 70-80% of how well the search engines will rank your website. And, while “off-page optimization” sounds pretty fancy and a bit technical, it’s really not.
Off-page optimization just means that you need to get backlinks back to your website from other websites or pages on the internet…the more, the better!
And, it really helps if you get these backlinks from sites that have high Page Rank…the higher, the better!
So, how do you go about getting backlinks (backlinks that count…more on that in a minute) and getting these backlinks from sites that have high Page Rank?
First off, you need a tool on your computer called SEOQuake…don’t worry it’s FREE (read my article A Network Marketing Internet Business Backlinking Trick to learn more about this tool).
After you have SEOQuake installed on your computer, you now have to find blogs and websites that allow you to leave comments and postings with a link back to your site…a link that is a dofollow link!
What do I mean by that?
Well, there are two types of backlinks that you can make…a dofollow backlink or a nofollow backlink.
Wikipedia defines a nofollow link as “a value that can be assigned to the rel attribute of an HTML a element to instruct some search engines that a hyperlink should not influence the link target’s ranking in the search engine’s index. It is intended to reduce the effectiveness of certain types of search engine spam, thereby improving the quality of search engine results and preventing spamdexing from occurring.”
In other words, if you look at the HTML code for a nofollow link, you will see something similar to what you see below:
Notice the rel=”nofollow”…thus, this link would be a nofollow link and the search engines would not give any backlink with this type of attribute any consideration for ranking purposes.
Unfortunately, most blogs and websites that are created only allow you to leave a comment or posting using this nofollow attribute…that’s why you need SEOQuake.
If you’re using SEOQuake, you can instantly tell if a website is using the dofollow or nofollow attribute. Not only that, by using SEOQuake, you can instantly see what type of Page Rank the site has…if they have any Page Rank at all.
If you’re trying to improve your website’s ranking, don’t waste your time leaving a comment where it will only get a nofollow attribute.
Now, here is one more secret!
Do you know what types of blogs and websites most often do have the dofollow attribute? Thet are those that use KeywordLuv for their comments.
Caution…However! Not all KeywordLuv blogs are dofollow. The purpose of installing KeywordLuv is to make your blog a dofollow blog, but some website owners fail to enable the plugin after it is installed…always use SEOQuake to make sure it is dofollow.
So, how do you find KeywordLuv blogs and websites that are related to your particular niche?
Let’s say your looking for blogs and websites related to jewelry…go to Google and type in the following:
That’s all you have to do…just enter intitle:jewelry “KeywordLuv” and click “Search”. Now you have a list of blogs and websites that are using KeywordLuv and are most likely using the dofollow attribute…just remember to check using SEOQuake.

One More Internet Income Opportunity Marketing Strategy
| I’ve shown visitors a number of internet income opportunity marketing strategies, but here’s one more that I want to show you.

not only check the competitiveness and the search volume level for these keywords, but I also check their likelihood of being financially viable.
By that, I mean, what is the likelihood that the keywords that I have chosen will make me money. Some niches have a lot of visitors, but the visitors just don’t buy many products.
To determine this, I do TWO things (and, you must do them both!).
First, I go to Google’s Search Based Keyword Tool. All I have to do is enter in my proposed keywords and click “Find Keywords”. The tool returns to me the keywords that I entered with a suggestion from Google on how much I would have to spend on Adwords advertising if I used that keyword.
If Google returns to me a price of $.50 or higher, that’s good. Why? Because that means their is a lot of competition on Google Adwords for that keyword. That means that we are in a market that is selling products and those particular keywords are highly sought after.
Look at the picture below:
I entered “online marketing course” into Google’s tool, and see what I got? Google is suggesting that if I wanted to use that term in a Google PPC ad, I was going to have to pay somewhere around $12.09 to use that word. That means a lot of people are willing to spend a lot of money to use that word.
Now, I would hesitate to use that word if I was trying to sell on Google Adwords (because it’s so high!), but if were to use that word in an article marketing campaign, it’s an internet income opportunity waiting to happen.
But, wait, remember I said there are TWO things that needed to be done.
Secondly, I would now enter this same proposed keyword term into Bing’s Online Commercial Intention Tool. This tool will tell you if that term is likely to be used by buyers wanting to buy or by just visitors looking for information.
I entered “online marketing course” and look at what I got:
The tool returned to me a “Commercial Intention” of .69. That’s good! Anything above .50 is considered good.
We have now used two tools to measure the commercial viability of a proposed keyword phrase – and, we’ve had good results with both.
That’s good! Creating websites that rank or being successful at article marketing takes a lot of time. The last thing you want to do is spend weeks or months of time creating links and backlinks to keywords that don’t sell.
Choose your keywords wisely. Take the time to do these kind of checks on all of your proposed keywords. Your keywords must be commercially viable to create an internet income opportunity that works for you.
Internet Income Opportunity’s On-Page SEO Tips

1. Your website and the posts that are on it need to be easy for the Google “Bots” to read, and…
2. You need to present and structure the information on your website so that it makes the Google “Bots” happy.

Increasing Your Internet Income Opportunity With Higher Rankings
All In One SEO Pack
If you are using WordPress, it’s important that you’re using the “All In One SEO” plugin. If not, go and get it now.
Once you have it installed, fill it in and use it on every post that you make. The All In One SEO Pack plugin makes it easier for the Google “Bots” to understand what your posting is all about. Technically, it clarifies the meta tags for them.
Below is an example of the All In One SEO Pack on one of my other websites:
Be sure that the keyword that you are using for that posting is in the title, somewhere within the description, and is listed in the keywords.
In the above example, my keyword was “lose 20 lbs” and you can see it in all three places.
Keyword, Keyword, Keyword
Not only should your keyword be in the title of your posting, but it also needs to be in the body of your posting. But, don’t use it too much! Google will penalize you for keyword stuffing if you use your keyword more than 4-5% of the total words on the page.
It’s important that your keyword appears somewhere within the first 50 words used within the posting. It’s also important that you use the keyword very near the end of the posting – in the last 1-2 sentences.
The Google “Bots” also like it when you make your keyword stand out from the rest of the words on the posting. That’s why I’ll usually italic and bold my keywords at least once.
LSI Keywords
The Google “Bots” are clever little spiders. When they crawl your posting, not only are they searching for your keywords, but they are searching for words related to those keywords.
This is known as Latent Semantic Indexing(LSI).
You see, Google knows what words are related to your keywords and Google would think it’s odd if it couldn’t find some of these related keywords.
So, how do you find these LSI words?
Simple. Go to Google’s Keyword Tool!
Once you’re at that free tool, all you have to do is input your keyword, click Search, and Google will return what it considers related keywords.
Here is an example for the keyword that I’m using for this posting. My keyword is internet income opportunity:
When I finish writing my postings, I use the Google Keyword Tool, develop my list of LSI words, and use a few of them in my posting.
Keyword Links
This is something new that I learned. I’m not sure why it works, but I’ve found that the Google “Bots” really like it.
On your page, link one of the keywords on your posting to your home URL and link another of your keywords to the URL for that particular posting.
Try it – it works like a Gem!
Internal Linking
In your posting, if possible, create links to other posts on your site. Try to use the same keyword that you used for that other posting as your anchor text.
Not only do the Google “Bots” like this, but it keeps visitors on your website longer.
H1 and H3
At the very top of your page you should have an H1 tag, also known as a Heading tag. Make sure your keyword phrase is in your tag.
Further down on your page, you should have a H3 tag. Once again, be sure your keyword is here, also.
I’m not sre why, but the H2 tag does not seem to be that important to the Google “Bots”.
If you’re not sure how to check this, go to your posting, put your arrow over your posting, and right click on it. Click View Page Source and look for your H1 and H3 tags.
Alternative Text Used On Images
If you have images on your posting, you can give them an “alternative text” and that should be the keyword that you are using for that post.
Be careful, though, don’t do this too much! If you do it too much, the Google “Bots” will consider it keyword stuffing and penalize you.
High Quality Outbound Links
It will improve your rankings if you link your website to some other high ranking websites within your niche – even if they don’t link back to you. The Google “Bots” like this.
This makes sense if you think about it. The Google “Bots” want visitors to your sight to have a good experience. So, if you tie your website to others that Google has already given high Page Ranks to, the “Bots” are happy.

Now, once you’ve created a website for the small business, offer them a contract for your SEO expertise. Let them know that unless they already know how to get their website ranked on Page 1, that you can do it for them. That fee normally runs about $1000 per month.
Look, most businesses are already advertising and spending money on the Yellow Pages. Point out to them that these forms of advertising are dinosaurs and are now pretty much a waste of money.
You’ll be surprised at how many of them will agree with you on that point. Now, just convince them that you can get their website ranked on Page 1 and your income opportunity home based business will be off and running.
TIP#1: One of the things I do to locate potential customers is that I search the newspapers to see who is advertising and who has a website. If they don’t have a website, they’re an ideal potential client.

GO Organic With Your Internet Income Opportunity
If you’re trying to make money or trying to get a message that you really believe in across the internet, then I urge you to do it organically. An internet income opportunity promoted organically costs so much less and is usually so much more successful.
Just in case you don’t know what I mean by “organically”, it means that you are not paying for it. It means that you are getting visitors to your website naturally.
There are two ways to get traffic to your site. One, is to pay for the traffic, such as through Google Adwords.
Secondly, is through normal search engine traffic, most importantly is Google, which accounts for 70% of the traffic.
Paid search on the internet is so expensive. I know, I’ve done it. Take out your wallet and never close it.
To be successful on the internet, you have to learn to do it organically. Don’t let anybody else tell you differently!
What this means is that if you want a lot of visitors to your website “naturally”, you have to be ranked on page 1 of Google – one of the top ten sites for your keyword.
Let me show you something. See the image below:
If you’re paying for visitors to your website, and if you are paying enough to get your ad listed at the top of Google’s search page, on average you’ll get 2-3% of the visitors to the page to click on your ad (these numbers are furnished by Google).
And, what about the ads on the right side of the page:
On average, they’ll get 1-2% of the clicks to the page. See below:
So, what does this mean?
It means that you’re so much better off to get your internet income opportunity’s website or squeeze page ranked on page 1 than you are to pay for traffic to it.
Take a look at the picture below:
According to Google, on average the #1 organic listing on their search page will receive 40-45% of all of the available clicks to that page.
The #2 listing will receive somewhere between 11-18% of the clicks; the #3 listing will receive 7-15%; the 4th through #9 listings will average about 2% each of the clicks and, surprisingly, the #10 listing will get slightly more at about 3% of all of the available clicks.
So, even if you’re on the bottom of page 1, you’ll get more clicks than if you were paying for the clicks.
Now, the key is to get your website highly ranked in the search engines. To do that, you need to thoroughly understand search engine optimization. Outdated Internet Income Opportunity SEO Tactics
| Search engines are always getting smarter, particularly Google’s. If you’re trying to take advantage of an internet income opportunity, you need to be aware that many of the “games” that webmasters use to use to get their websites ranked no longer work. |

Even though many SEO forums and SEO blogs still promote these tactics, some of these tactics don’t work and, and in fact, using them may set you back in Google’s rankings.
This article will examine 5 of these outdated tactics and offer possible alternatives.
KEYWORD STUFFING
Before search engine’s matured, using a keyword as many times as possible on a web page was a sure way to improve rankings. This was called “keyword stuffing”. Now, search engine algorithms are much more sophisticated and over-using a keyword on a page is a rankings no-no!
Alternative – For maximum impact, use legitimate SEO practices, such as:
- Use keywords in prominent portions of your Web page such as titles, headers, subheads, tags, and meta descriptions
- Use keywords as high up on the page as possible so that they can be easily found by search engines and people
- Keywords that are underlined, made bold, or italicized are easier for search engines to find
- Keyword density should be a maximum of 2-4%
- Write your content for people, not the search engines
SEARCH ENGINE SUBMISSION
I’m amazed at how many people still pay for search engine submission. I’m also amazed at how many Web developers still believe that search engine submission is necessary. Well, it’s not! Google’s search engine is so advanced that it will discover and index new content so fast that search engine submission is not needed.
Alternative – The best way to insure your new website is discovered is to get links pointing to it. Social media sites are ideal for this. For example, open a Twitter account and link to your new website or add it to your profile link. Google’s search engines crawl through Twitter constantly and the link to your new website will be discovered quickly. You can also use a site called Ping.fm where you can post a message and link to dozens of social media sites.
META TAG OPTIMIZATION
Search engine rankings to your internet income opportunity use to be influenced by meta tags (bits of info embedded in the area of a page’s code). This was particularly true with info placed in the “meta keywords” area. But, many website owner’s and SEOs abused the meta keyword attribute by putting misleading terms in this area that were unrelated to their content that Google has now officially said that their search engines ignore the meta keyword tag.
Alternative – If you want to add additional keywords to your website, try using category and tags to better label and organize your content. Searchability, functionality, and usability are enhanced by tagging your posts and pages.
LINK EXCHANGES
This use to be a very popular way to get links to your website. Reciprocal linking with other website owners and exchanging links to each others site was much the thing to do in the past. But, Google prefers to find “natural links” and has learned how to identify reciprocal links. A few of these does not hurt, but if you have a lot of these then Google considers this an intentional scheme to influence rankings – a violation.
Alternative – Avoid link exchange schemes. Instead, provide testimonials to other business ventures. Writing something favorable to other businesses is an easy way to get them to return the favor.
BLOG COMMENT SPAMMING
You still see this all the time! Webmasters intentionally leave comments on blogs with a link to their own website. This is called blog comment spamming. To deal with this problem, Google introduced nofollow link tags to tell search engine spiders to ignore this link. Most blogs now have this nofollow tag.
Alternative – Instead of spamming, leave genuine, creative, and helpful comments. This will attract naturally occurring editorial links links that search engines like so much better than comments on blog posts.
SEO is constantly changing. Avoid these outdated tactics or your internet income opportunity may be penalized.
