Flipping is a term used in the internet marketing world. It is the act of buying and selling websites for a profit. Flipping can be an income opportunity home based business that requires only 1-2 hours of work per day. It has huge profit potential. Let me explain.
One new website or blog is created every 1/2 second. Nearly 99% of these websites will never get much traffic, usually because they have chosen the wrong keywords (read Traffic Is Key To An Internet Income Opportunity). But, with over 170,000 new websites and blogs created every day, if only 1% of these do have the ability get much traffic that means 1,700 new, valuable websites are on the internet each and every day.
Now, many of these good websites will never deliver a cent of profit to their owners. Why? Well, many of them were created for reasons other than profit and many of them will never be monetized properly. Learning to monetize a website is a skill that many web owners just don’t have. Owners of many of these potentially good websites, will eventually get tired of working on their “gold mines” and either give up on them or sell them. Those up for sale are what you need to be looking for.
You are probably asking two questions right now:
- Where do I look for these potentially, good websites that are for sale?
- How do I recognize a potentially, good website from a poor one?
I believe Flippa is the best place to look for websites for sale. Go there and check it out. You can join for free (I don’t receive any commissions from Flippa). Flippa provides an abundant amount of information on websites that are up for sale. Another marketplace to look at is the Sitepoint Marketplace.
To recognize potentially, good websites for my income opportunity home based business I look at several things:
1. Profit – Does the website make a profit? If so, how much and for how long? Do they have written records of this sales activity? What niche or market are they in?
I review the monetization methods that they have been using. Can I improve upon it? If the website is already making some money and if I believe I can improve its money making potential, the website has my interest.
2. Traffic – Traffic is the most important things that I look for. Each unique visitor is worth some amount of money. If the site already has a sizable amount of traffic, that’s good! If not, why not? Is it the niche or the website. If it’s the niche, my interest goes way down. If it’s the website, what is wrong with it? How many back links does the site have? What keywords are being used?
This is where I use one of my tools that I have. That tool is called Market Samurai. I can use this tool to determine if the keywords being used are appropriate or if they need changing. I can also use this tool to determine how competitive the internet market is for the keywords being used.
In the end, when I am reviewing a potential website that’s for sale, I either want it to already have a lot of traffic while generating little or no income (not monetized properly). Or, have low levels of traffic, in a good niche, sound keywords, and huge potential.
I decide how much I am willing to pay and I bid on the website. Up front, I decide what is the maximum amount I am willing to pay and I don’t go over that amount.
After I have purchased the website, I lay out plans for improving the website’s performance. Sometimes, I only have to monetize the website. Sometimes, I only have to increase traffic. But, I usually work on both monetization and traffic.
After I have my plans developed, I outsource the labor at oDesk (read Outsourcing Help For Your Network Marketing Internet Business).This is really the simple way to do it and it’s inexpensive to do. I get an email every day from my outsourced laborers on what progress they’ve made. I stay focused on developing other ways to make more money.
At some point in the future, usually 3-9 months, the performance on the websites that I have purchased has increased so much that I can sell them for huge profits. I use those profits to buy more websites. So, you see, flipping websites can be an income opportunity home based business.
Traffic Is Key To An Internet Income Opportunity
You cannot take advantage of any internet income opportunity unless you have traffic going to your site. And, I mean loads of traffic! At best, most internet marketers can expect a 1-3% conversion rate. So, that means for every 100 visitors to your website, you can expect only 1 to 3 sales.
How do you get traffic to your website? Well, one way is to pay for it. You can advertise your website on the search engines and drive traffic to your site. If you have tried this, you know how expensive this can be. Even after you have made a sale, you have probably lost money. Or, you can get free traffic to your website.
Getting free traffic to your website is what nearly every internet marketer wants. But, nearly 99% of those that try fail to get sufficient traffic to their website. They waste hours-upon-hours of time creating their websites and writing articles only to see that they are getting 15-20 visitors per day. They have wasted their time.
Why do 99% of those that try, fail? Because they have broken at least one of the three Golden Rules of internet marketing. These 3 Golden Rules are:
- Target ONLY keywords that can drive significant traffic to your website.
- Target ONLY keywords that have significant profit potential.
- Target ONLY keywords that have acceptable levels of competition.
That’s it! These three Golden Rules are the key to success for any website. Break any one of these and your website WILL FAIL!
What’s most important about these 3 Golden Rules is that these keywords have to be determined and selected before you even begin making your website. Don’t waste time on trying to take advantage of an internet income opportunity unless you have the right keywords selected.
Finding the right keywords that fit the Golden Rules criteria is not easy, particularly if your not an internet guru. But, there is a “darn good” tool on the market that can help you do it. It’s called Market Samurai.

Outsourcing Help For Your Network Marketing Internet Business
When you are building a network marketing internet business, there is a LARGE amount of work that you have to do. Besides all the article writing that you have to do, there are a ton of things that you have to do to get your network ranked. Don’t do all this work yourself.
You are the brainchild of your marketing business and your time is more valuable if it is used in strategy development. For many tasks, such as article writing and link building, outsource these tasks out to someone else. You’ll build your income stream much faster than if you try to do all these thing by yourself.
There are many professional writers and computer geeks all over the world. There are places where you can hire this type of help for as little as $2.50/hour. And, if you are doing the type of work that you could hire someone else to do it for $2.50, than what YOU are actually earning is $2.50/hour. Aren’t you worth more than this?
How can you find great help at a low cost? Well, in the past I have used Elance and Rent-A-Coder to get some of my tasks done. But, the one I like best and use the most is called oDesk . With oDesk, you can interview and hire freelance contractors from around the world. It’s efficient and easy to use, almost as if they were in the office next door. Signing up at oDesk is free. – you don’t even have to give them a credit card number to look the site over.
If you have a job that needs to be done, there are two ways to get a contractor at oDesk (oDesk calls them Providers) to get the job done. The first way is to post the job on oDesk and let Providers bid on your job. Once posted, you’ll normally have a dozen or more bids within 24 hours.
The second way – which is the way I do it in my network marketing internet business – is to search for Providers and ask them if they would be interested in the work. The information provided on oDesk about their Providers is what makes oDesk so much better than the rest. oDesk provides their Providers with the opportunity to take efficiency tests and their scores on these tests are provided to you. There are 312 tests in all and range from “U.S. English Basic Skills”, “U.S. Vocabulary”, “HTML 4.01″, to “Advanced Java”. Many, many, many different tests.
The Providers are happy to take these tests if they have the required skills because they know that it increases their chances of finding a job. When searching for Providers, you have a variety of ways to search for them. You can search by keyword, category(such as “writing and translation”), test scores, location, or by hourly rate.
After you enter your search criteria, you are given a list of potential Providers that you can review and choose from. ODesk provides you a host of information about each Provider including feedback from previous employers. oDesk also provides you information on how long it took the Provider to complete the job.
I often try to select Providers from the Philippines. They have an excellent work ethic and many of them are university students. Working for $3-$4/hr. is excellent pay for them and most of them have excellent English skills. But, always check them out.
I always ask a potential Provider to take a test before I hire them. For instance, if I need a number of articles written, I’ll ask them to write me an article. I tell them up front that if I like the article, I will pay them for it. But, if I don’t like it, I tell them that it’s not up to my standard.
Providing good, clear instructions to the Provider is so important. It’s best if you can show the Provider a video of what you want them to do. For example, if you want a Provider to build some back-links for you, take a few minutes and show the Provider on video the type of sites you want them to build back-links on and what type of information you want in those back-links.
If you have not done video before in your network marketing internet business, you can use sites like Camtasia or JingProject. Camtasia is very professional, but a bit expensive. JingProject is a brother site to Camtasia, but is free to use. The only problem to JingProject is that your videos are limited to 5 minutes or less. But, if you can’t provide enough information to your Provider with just one video, provide them with two videos. It’s free.
The last thing that I like to do when resourcing a Provider on oDesk is to ask them to connect with me over the internet using Skype. This enables me to talk directly to them to see if we can make a business-like connection and it allows me to judge their use of the English language.
After I have found and used a Provider, I review that Provider and provide that information to oDesk. I always try to be honest and straight-forward. I know that others will use my reviews to help their business’s.
If I am very pleased with a Provider, I try to stay in touch and use them on future jobs. I even try to further develop them. For example, I had one Provider who did an excellent back-link development job for me and he spoke good English. I asked him if he wanted to try writing some articles for me. He said that he had never done that before, but that he would try. He’s now one of my best freelance writers.
Don’t do all this work yourself! Your network marketing internet business needs you as the captain of the ship – not doing all the grunt work. Steer the ship and outsource the manual labor.

Blogging Can Be Made Into An Internet Income Opportunity
Do you have a blog, yet? Many people start blogs as an avenue to express themselves or to share ideas with family members and friends. But, blogging can also be an internet income opportunity. And, if done properly, it can be a huge source of income.
Many products are sold on the internet through blogs. In most cases, the people selling these products don’t even own the products. They are selling other people’s or organization’s products and when they sell the product they receive a commission. This is called affiliate marketing.
Commission percentages can run anywhere from 3% to as high as 75%. You have to check with each vendor to determine what commission percentage they are willing to pay.
Finding products to sell on your blog is easy. For example, if you have a blog centered around cooking, you can go to Google search and type in “recipe cookbooks +affiliates”, hit “enter”, and Google will return to you a huge list of publishers who are looking for affiliates to sell their cookbooks. You can do this for any search term.
There are also some huge markets that deal only with products that are intended to be sold by affiliate marketers. Three of the biggest are Clickbank, Commission Junction, and PayDotCom. These are all free to join.
Google even has their own market similar to these. It’s called the Google Affiliate Network. Check it out.
If you don’t have a blog, but you would like to take advantage of an internet income opportunity, you should consider making your own blog. You can make your own blog for free. Blogger.com and Wordpress.com are two websites where you can create your own blogging website and it will cost you nothing to do it. They provide you the templates to get started, and the information and directions on how to create your own blog. Google’s search engines love these two websites.
The downside to Blogger.com and Wordpress.com is that they have a limited number of templates to choose from so you are limited on how your blog will look. They also do not allow any custom plugins so you are limited on how much your blog can do for you.
An alternate website that many affiliate marketers use is Wordpress.org. Google’s search engines love this website, also. On the plus side, you can upload your own custom templates and plugins. You can also change codes. This means that there is no limit to how your website can look and no limits to what it can do.
On the downside, you must have more technical knowledge. Also, while creating a website on Wordpress.org is free, you do have to provide your own domain name and hosting. Hosting on sites like Hostgator, Namecheap, or GoDaddy will cost between $7-$15 per month and domain names can be purchased from $3-$12 per year.
There is one last website I would like to discuss. If you are going to create a blog with the intent to make money, you need to be aware that you need to get your blog ranked on the first page of Google’s search engines in order to get much free traffic (read Boost Your Internet Income Opportunity for more info on how to get ranked). That means you will have to make two or more postings per week to your blog. This is where a blogging website called Wordpress Direct comes in handy.
Wordpress Direct is similar to Wordpress.org. They provide hundreds of templates to choose from or you can upload your own custom templates. You can choose any plugins that you want and you can change codes. But, the most unique feature that Wordpress Direct has to offer is that it has some unique, custom plugins that can generate articles and videos automatically and post them to your site. This relieves you from doing much of the work – particularly, if you don’t like to write.
Once again, the downside to Wordpress Direct is that you have to buy your own domain name and hosting. Also, Wordpress Direct has a monthly fee. But, if you are making money with your blogs, the small fee is easy to handle. Especially, for the time and service that Wordpress Direct saves you (for more info on Wordpress Direct, read my short article Home Work Business Opportunities).

I make my living in affiliate marketing. It was my way of taking advantage of home work business opportunities. I am asked all the time by people I know and meet on what exactly does affiliate marketing mean.
The easiest way to explain it is to give you an example. Amazon.com is the biggest affiliate marketing network. Amazon has hundreds of thousands of products that that can be purchased through their website. If you join Amazon.com and become an affiliate for them, all you have to do to make a commission with them is to drive traffic to their website and if a purchase is made, you earn a commission.
That’s it! To be an affiliate marketer all you need is a computer and internet access.
It doesn’t cost you anything to be an affiliate for Amazon.com – joining is free. And, their are hundreds of other affiliate marketing networks that you can join and they are also free to join. Among the largest and busiest are Clickbank, Commission Junction, and PayDotCom.
The key to being successful at affiliate marketing is driving hungry traffic to your affiliate sites. The three usual ways of doing this are by:
1. Blogging – You can create your own free website at Wordpress.com or Blogger.com. Once you have these set up, you can write postings in your blog and link them to your affiliate sites. Or, you can post banners on your blog and if clicked, it will take your visitors to your affiliate links. All of this, including the banners, are free.
2. Article Writing – You can write articles that have links to your affiliate networks and post these articles on article directories. Your article should be written around a subject related to what you are trying to sell so that the traffic you drive to your links are focused and targeted. Some of the more popular article directories are Ezinearticles, Squidoo, Hubpages, and GoArticles. All of these are free to use.
3. PPC Advertising – PPC advertising is known as pay per click advertising. Now, this is not free, but it is a very effective way to drive targeted customers directly to the products you are trying to sell. This method involves placing ads on Google Adwords, Yahoo, or MSN. Joining these advertising sites is free, but one you place an ad, you will have to pay a predetermined amount each time someone clicks on your ad. It doesn’t cost anything for your ad to show, but it does when someone clicks on it (for some tips on PPC advertising, read my article on this internet income opportunity).
Affiliate marketing is a terrific internet income opportunity. It is not a get rich quick scheme. It does take some time to learn the ropes, but there is income to be made and the longer you are in it, the more you will make. Remember, all those links you put out there to products you are selling, will stay on the internet for years to come.

If you’re unemployed, use a lot of that extra time that you have to find a legitimate business opportunity on the internet. There are not many regular jobs out there. With unemployment hovering around 10% (and much higher in many states), employers are reluctant to do much hiring. Many experts are forecasting that it will be 3-4 years before we see much of a drop in unemployment. So, don’t give up, use this time to create your own internet income opportunity. Make your own business. It’s not as hard as you may think.
First thing you need to do before you decide which legitimate business opportunity it is that you want to tackle, is to determine how much money you need to make on a daily basis to sustain your way of living. If you’re working from home, it will be less than you think.
For example, if your rent or house payment is $900/month, that’s about $30/day (based on 30 days/month). Groceries about $10/day (if you spend about $70/week). Electricity $6/day, water and sewage $3/day, cable TV $2/day, telephone $2/day, high speed internet $1.50/day, automobile payment $8.50/day, auto insurance $3/day, and miscellaneous expenses $4/day. That’s a total of $70/day in total expenses. Now, you need to find a legitimate business opportunity on the internet that will provide you with an income of at least $70/day.
Keep in mind that making money on the internet is not a get rich quick scheme. Sure, there have been those that have immediately made thousands of dollars. But, that’s like winning the lottery. It can be done, but it’s not likely to happen.
The important thing about finding a legitimate business opportunity on the internet is to find an opportunity that is consistently and regularly providing you an income. You will likely have to take advantage of a number of different opportunities, with each one providing you a chunk of income that is covering different parts of your expenses.
For example, you may have a blog on weight loss that is linking to different weight loss programs that is providing you with an average income of $12/day. Well, that’s covering groceries and telephone expenses.
Start another blog, say on exercise equipment. Build it up and after a while the income from it may be covering your automobile payment and its insurance.

Perhaps this will provide you enough income to cover your house payments. And, try article marketing on Ezinearticles and Squidoo (see Bum Marketing Is A Legitimate Business Opportunity). Article marketing may provide you enough income to cover the balance of your expenses and start providing you enough cash to put in your savings account.
Providing yourself an income by bits and pieces is insurance for you. Now, I’m not saying that you don’t want to land on a big money maker – we all want that. I’m just saying that you want to diversify your income. You never know when one of your sources of income may dry up. If you have diversified your income, you may get a little “thirsty” when one of your sources dries up, but you can survive until you have found another legitimate business opportunity.

It’s a backlink from a site that is probably already ranked high by the search engines. For example, if your wbsite is selling jewelry, a backlink from a site like www.Zales.com would be considered a high authority backlink (Zales.com is a jewelry outlet that has been in business since 1924 and its website is ranked #1 out of 130,000,000 sites by Google).
In your search for these type of high authority backlinks, type your keywords into Google Search (or, Yahoo and MSN) and start looking from the top of page one. Going down the search results, look for sites that you might be able to leave a backlink to your site. You may have to visit many of these sites. Look to see if they have a link exchange program, a comment area, or even a “signature” page. Finding several of these high ranking sites and posting backlinks will help increase your internet income opportunity.
Another source of high authority sites are those websites related to educational and government agencies. These websites end with the terms .edu and .gov. The search engines consider these sites important. One reason that they do is that all comments and backlinks posted to these sites are human reviewed before they are posted. So, if you are going to leave a comment and backlink on one of these sites, make sure that your comment and backlink is relevant to the site. These sites do not allow spamming.
To find .edu and .gov sites that you can leave backlinks on, you have to find blogs and forums related to these sites. To find these, go to the search engines and type in each of the following, one at a time: “inurl:.gov+inurl:blog”, “inurl:.gov+inurl:forum”, “inurl:.edu+inurl:blog”, and “inurl:.edu+inurl:forum”. Type these in without the parenthesis that I have attached.
The search engines will return all the .gov or .edu websites that are either blog or forum related. You will have to look through these listings to find those that might be related to your website. If you can find one, make sure you leave a good comment that adds substance to the subject they are talking about. Getting a backlink from one of these sights will certainly boost the ranking of your internet income opportunity.
