Network Marketing Internet Business Newbie Mistakes
| There are some very common mistakes made by Newbies in the network marketing internet business. I’m not surprised that some of these mistakes are made because I made some of these same mistakes when I first started out. That’s why I’m writing this posting so that I can help others who are first starting out to avoid these mistakes. |

Avoid These Common Mistakes:
1. Failure To Capture Email Addresses
If you’re trying to drive organic(free) traffic to your website, why shouldn’t you take the time to capture their email addresses? Yes, they have to give it to you, but why not take the time and ask them for it? It never hurts to ask!
If a visitor to your site likes what they see and read, they’ll probably be pleased to give you their email address. After all, that means that they can get some more of that good information in the future and they don’t have to take the time to remember your website’s address.
Getting your visitor’s email address allows you to build a relationship with them. You’ll get more visitors to your site who are just looking and not buying, but if you’ll buid a confident relationship with them, they’ll be more likely to buy in the future. And, they’re likely to become repeat customers!
The best way to ask a visitor to your site to give their email address to you is to offer them something free in return. Offer them a free report, advice, or a free tool. Let them know that their email address is safe with you and that they can always opt-out if they no longer want to receive any more emails from you.
It’s easy to create a free report that you can give your visitors in your particular niche. But, if you don’t want to create your own, you can also get them for free. Read my posting Rebranding an Internet Income Opportunity to find out how.
2. Failure To Try To Sell More
If you’ve got a visitor to your site and they’ve decided to make a purchase, don’t be afraid to ask them to make an additional purchase.
It’s always easier to sell someone who has already made a purchase and still has their credit card in-hand.
Do this within seconds after they’ve made their first purchase.
Make sure that the second product that you’re going to try to sell them is somehow related to the first product that they’ve already bought. For example, if you’ve just sold a customer the plans to build solar panels for their home, why not make them an second offer for the plans to build a solar heating unit for their swimming pool? You may increase your profits in your network marketing internet business!
3. Reducing The Cost Of Google Adwords
Remember that I said that it’s important to capture a visitor’s email address? Well, that’s especially important if you’re advertising on Google Adwords!
How many times have you advertised on Google Adwords and your cost to do it was $500 and the sales you made only netted you $450? That’s a net loss of $50.
Well, if you’re capturing email addresses, you’ll have the opportunity to make up that $50 loss with potential sales in the future.
4. Using The Wrong Keywords
All too often and the biggest mistake made by Newbies is that they use the wrong keywords for their websites, articles, and videos. As a result, they get very little traffic and they find it almost impossible to get ranked.
Newbies are anxious to get started – I know, I was there and made the same mistakes. Choosing keywords that are too general and too competitive is a waste of time and energy.
Before you get started, sloooow down, choose the right niche, and the right keywords. Keywords that have enough traffic, but not too much competition.
There is a Google tool that can help you find the right keywords to choose. That tool is at http://www.google.com/sktool/.
This tool will help you find keyword phrases that are relevant to your niche and gives you an estimated level of traffic. Choose keywords that are long-tail(multiple words), have a sufficient amount of daily traffic, and are not too competitive.

5. Using Keywords That Won’t Sell
A BIG MISTAKE!
Some keywords just won’t bring you visitors who are willing to buy. They will only bring you visitors who are looking for information and doing research.
Ask any expert on Google Adwords – there are certain keywords that will bring buyers and other keywords will attract only lookers.
When you choose keywords for your website, articles, and videos, be sure that you use keywords that hungry buyers would use.
So, after you do your keyword research on google.com/sktool, take your chosen keywords to Bing’s Online Commercial Intention Tool and find out what the probability is that those keywords will be words that buyers would use. This tool is FREE to use.
If you’ve found 3-4 keywords that have sufficient amounts of traffic,are not too competitive, and are likely to be used by buyers, you’ve likely found a gold mine!
Now, let me tell you about a tool that can do all of these things for you, and it does it automatically. Yes, it does cost some money, but not that much. I think that at some point, it’ll be used by everyone in the internet marketing or affiliate marketing business.

The tool is so easy to use and it’s so clever! I can’t imagine trying to make money online without having this tool in my tool box.

Build Your Network Marketing Internet Business By Selling Physical Products – Part 2
(NOTE: This is the 2nd part of a two part series on Building Your Network Marketing Internet Business By Selling Physical Products. If you haven’t read Part 1, yet, you may want to do so by clicking HERE before proceeding)
| Promoting and selling physical products on the internet is an easy process. What you need to keep in mind is not to over-complicate the process. Basically, it is a 3-step process: 1) Research, 2) Setup, and 3) Promotion. |  |
STEP 1 – Research There are 4 key elements to research:
1. Your Chosen Market: Make sure that the market that you are choosing is one where there are “active buyers” on the internet. By that, I mean, there are some products that potential buyers will research on the internet, but when it comes down to buying they want to be physically touching the product before they buy.
I usually test this out by going to forums related to the product and check to see what the members are talking about. You can even join these forums and participate in them. For example, you might just come out and ask the members in the forum how many of them have bought product “XYZ” over the internet.
Make sure there are “active buyers” on the internet!
2. Your Product: Find a quality product that has name recognition, a reputable firm behind it, and allows affiliates to promote it. You want a product where you can make an easy sale.
3. Your Domain Name – You want to try to get a domain name that is the same name of the product that you have chosen to promote. For example, if you had chosen to promote Laars Pool Heaters, you would like to get a domain name like www.LaarsPoolHeater.com. You can also use .net or .org, but I wouldn’t choose any other extensions.
4. Your Keywords – Use Google’s Keyword tool and find 3-4 keywords that “active buyers” would likely use on the internet. For example, for Laars Pool Heater, I would likely look for and use “buy Laars Pool Heater”, “purchase Laars Pool Heater”, or just “Laars Pool Heater” if Google’s Keyword Tool returned these options to me.
Remember, Google’s Keyword Tool will only return words to use that have a history of being used on their search engine.
STEP 2 – Setup
Setup a simple website on WordPress.org. I’ve found this to be the quickest and easiest site to quickly setup simple websites for my network marketing internet business and Google just loves it!
There are two important WordPress plugins that you need to install into your WordPress admin panel. Be sure to install All In One SEO and Google Analytics. They are both free.
Your website should be between 3-8 pages long. Write an interesting review of your product and give them some information on the company’s background. If there are any special details that can help them to make a purchase decision (for example, “Next Day Delivery”), be sure to include that.
Don’t forget to call your reader to action. For example, you might say, “Buy Now” or “Purchase Today” – after all, that’s what we want them to do. Following is an example of a simple website used in the Laars Pool Heater example above:
See how simple of a site that is! Nothing fancy. It’s a 7 page site with 5 of those pages reviewing specific products.
STEP 3 – Promotion
Once your website is established and hosted, write another article related to the website and submit it to Squidoo, Ezinearticles, Hubpages or any other of the many article directories. Link back to your main website!
This job is made even easier if you use a tool like RapidWriter or ArticleMarketingAutomation. These tools were used in the Laars Pool Heater example and the website is on Page 1 of Google and Yahoo in under 4 weeks. For proof, see the picture below. This website was created in June 2010:
That’s it! That’s how you market physical products. With 3-4 hours of work, you can have a website up and running and promoted to Page 1 of Google and Yahoo.
Now, none of these simple websites are going to make you a fortune, but each one you create will make you a few sales per month – and they will do it for years to come.
Rinse and repeat this process. You should be able to create and promote 2-3 sites per day. In two short weeks, you should have 20-40 of these sites established and your network marketing internet business will be bringing you in a healthy monthly income stream.

Build Your Network Marketing Internet Business By Selling Physical Products – Part 1
| Most network marketing internet bussinesses sell only informational products – products similar to those that you would find on Clickbank. And, it’s such a competitive market! |  |
After all, almost every internet marketing course teaches their students to sell these type of products. In fact, I don’t know of one beginner’s course that doesn’t.
That’s why I’ve lately started to change my marketing efforts and I’m moving towards selling more physical products. It’s much larger and much less competitive.
Last year, physical products were a 210 billion dollar industry while informational products were only a 1 billion dollar industry. That means that the physical product industry is over 200 times larger than the informational product industry! Here are some other reasons why I like the physical product industry:
- Higher traffic to sales ratio
- Less refunds
- It’s “Evergreen” – you can sell it now and years from now
- Higher quality traffic and buyer frequency
People much prefer to buy a physical product versus an informational product. With informational products, people are always searching the internet to see if they can find their answers for “free”. With physical products, people have often made up their mind on exactly what they want and they are searching the internet only to find the best place to buy it.
Yes, commission percentages are usually much lower when you sell a physical product compared to an informational product, but you need to think in terms of dollars, not percentages. If you sell a $400 Nikon camera and receive an 8% commission, you would receive a $32 commission. That’s still more that if you sold a $50 informational product that was paying a 60% commission.
My network marketing internet business will always sell informational products, but my business is definitely branching out more into physical products – especially those physical products that have a higher price tag.
Where do I find physical products to sell? Well, there are many affiliate networks besides Clickbank that do have physical products that you as an affiliate can sell. Sites like Commission Junction and Linkshare have physical products. But, I usually use a different method to find businesses that are looking for affiliates.
Let’s say that you want to sell iPhones or iPhone related products. All you have to do is go to Google Search and enter iPhones +affilates and hit “enter” and you’ll get returned to you a listing of sites that are looking for affiliates to sell their iPhone products. See the image below:
Another method to use is to enter iPhone “affiliate program” into Google Search. You’ll get similar results.
Before you start promoting any product, informational or physical, you have to do your research. Research is so important to a network marketing internet business.
I don’t like to promote products unless they are growing in popularity. If the industry is dying, it will be difficult to sell products.
The tool that I use to check this with is called Google Trends. It will show the strength of the market for any particular product for the past 6 years.
For example, I was considering to start promoting camping equipment until I did some research on Google Trends. See the image below to see the results I got when I entered “camping equipment” into it’s search bar:
Camping equipment appears to be a slow dying industry – see the downward sloping line? I was shocked! Now, that doesn’t mean I couldn’t make money in that industry, but unless something turns that industry around, my income from the efforts that I put into it would probably keep going down. I decided to look elsewhere.
Next, I entered “buy iPhones” into Google Trends search bar and I got the following results:
Not only is buying iPhones a recent industry, but it’s booming and appears to be growing. These are all good signs!
Now, all I have to do is set up a very focused, but simple website dedicated to one, high priced iPhone product and promote it. Building that site and promoting it should not take but about 3 hours to do. After that, my network marketing internet business will be promoting another physical product online that has money making potential for years to come.

A Network Marketing Internet Business Backlinking Trick
Creating powerful backlinks to your network marketing internet business is vital for the success of the business. Not just any type of baclinks, but high quality backlinks. This small trick that I’m going to show you will teach you how you can easily find and get those type of backlinks.
Why work harder at getting backlinks when all you have to do is work smarter? This trick will take those high quality backlinks found by others and with some reverse engineering allow you to apply to your own website. Smarter backlinking is the way to go.
Blogs and forums are ideal spots to leave backlinks to your site. On these sites, you can leave a comment and leave a link. This information is nothing new, most everybody knows that. But, there is a more powerful way to do that.
When I go to a blog, I like to review the comments. It’s not so much the comments that I’m interested in, but it’s the “footprints”. When I say “footprints”, I’m talking about the names of those that have made comments and have left a link. These links are usually links to their own sites and is an indication that they were employing their own backlinking strategy.
The thing about these “footprints” is that these same “footprints” are left throughout the internet. People normally sign comments using the same name. I follow these “footprints” and grab their best sites to leave my links.
Take a look at the “footprint” that I found posted on a comment on a blog below:
Someone that had posted a link signed their name as “Marcossp“. To follow this “footprint” and find the best sites for leaving my own backlinks to my network marketing internet business, I have to do two things. First, I have to turn on SEO Quake, and secondly, go to Google Advanced Search.
If you’re not familiar with SEO Quake, it’s a FREE Firefox Plugin and you can download it at ->SEO Quake<- (to learn more about it, you can read my article Build Your Internet Income Opportunity).

Once installed, make sure you turn SEO Quake on by clicking its button on the bottom-right of your screen. Also, be sure to right click on that button and be sure the tool “Line-through nofollow and noindex” is turned on. |
With SEO Quake turned on, I go to Google Advanced Search.
In Google Advanced Search, I enter “by marcossp” on the second line where it says “this exact wording or phrase:” and I change the “Results per page” from 10 to 100.
Now, I click “Advanced Search” and Google returns to me 86 results for the term “by marcossp”.
The next thing I need to do is use the power of SEO Quake. SEO Quake identifies the Page Rank that Google has assigned to these 86 sites. I only want to look at those with the highest Page Rank so if I click on the Page Rank (PR) “down arrow” on SEO Quake’s tool bar, all 86 sites will be rearranged. The highest Page Ranked sites will be at the top and lowest at he bottom.
By clicking on these highest Page Ranked sites, I can see what type of sites they are and if I can leave a backlink to my network marketing internet business. In this particular example, I found the third result was a forum and had a Google Page Rank equal to 5.
Forums are usually excellent spots to leave a backlink. I found “marcossp” remarks and noted that he had left 5 links. What’s important to note is that none of these links have a line through them. Remember, we had turned on SEO Quake’s tool so that it would identify all nofollow links by drawing a line through them. Since there are no lines, these are dofollow links. Perfect!
Now, all I had to do was register to the forum and leave my own Page Rank 5 backlinks! This is one of the easiest ways to get powerful high quality backlinks. Remember, you can repeat this process as many times as you want and get as many backlinks as you want.
You might be thinking, “Yeah, but that particular forum is not related to my niche”. Well, it might not be and it doesn’t have to be. It’s still a powerful backlink. Yes, backlinks from a forum related to your niche would even be more powerful if it had a Page Rank of 5 or better, but how me forums are you going to find in your niche? Probably, not many.
This particular backlinking trick I learned from a FREE course that I got when I bought some other nifty software. This free course is called the Backlink Blueprint and this backlinking trick is only a fraction of what’s in the entire course.
The nifty software that I did buy is called Rapid Rewriter and the product launch was just yesterday, April 27th. Rapid Rewriter will help you spin new articles from one original article to make them all original in content. It’s a dynamite piece of software for those that do article submissions on Web 2.0 sites to help develop traffic and backlinks. If you do that, take a look at it. I know it’s going to help my network marketing internet business.
Network Marketing Internet Business Marketing Tricks
| There is a trick that almost every network marketing internet business uses and I wanted to share that trick with you. It’s not really a secret, but it’s not something they really want to talk about, either. |  |
For the first couple of years that I was in the internet marketing business, whenever I wanted to start a new website I would do my keyword research and buy a new domain name that was keyword rich.
Next, I would launch an extensive campaign to build back links to my new website. I would spend weeks doing this. Building links is not fun and it takes a lot of man-hours to do it.
Link building is one of the major keys to getting ranked on any of the major search engines such as Google. The problem is, however, that Google (and the other major search engines) just don’t trust new websites. There are too many websites created on a daily basis that end up as “dead” websites after a few weeks or even months.
Sure, I would sometimes get a new website page ranked high on Google, sometimes even on page1. But, a few days later that page would be gone from Google’s front page. Sometimes it took months to get that page back on Google’s page 1. That’s when I realized that there is a trick to this and it’s a trick that almost every network marketing internet business uses.
Buy Aged Domain Names
Find domain names in your niche that already exist and buy them to use for your new website. There are thousands of domain names that are already up for sale or are on websites that just aren’t used any more. Look for domain names in your niche that have these three characteristics:
- Has been on the market three years or longer. The longer the better.
- Preferably has an existing Page Rank of 2 or higher.
- Appears to be a “dead” website or already up for sale.
If you can find one of these aged domains in your niche and if you can buy it, you have bought Google’s trust!
How To Find Domains That Are For Sale
The easiest way to find an aged domain name in your niche that you can buy is to ask Google to look for it. Simply go to Google Search and enter in one of the following search queries:
inurl:keyword “domain if for sale”
inurl:keyword “domain name if for sale”
inurl:keyword “website is for sale”
inurl:keyword “buy this domain name”
inurl:keyword “buy this domain”
*In the above, replace keyword with your own keywords.
Typing in the above search queries will give you a bunch of available domain names that are for sale in your niche.
The next thing you want to do is use SEO Quake to analyze their Page Rank and domain age (if you have not used the FREE SEO Quake software before, visit my post Internet Income Opportunity and High Page Rank Links to get it and to learn how to use it).
You can find the domain age on the “whois” button on the SEO Quake toolbar. This button will also provide you information so that you can contact the website’s owners.
Once you’ve found an aged domain name that will fit your needs, all you have to do is contact the owner’s and find out how much they will sell it for. Don’t offer them a price – make them give you a price. I usually offer them less then 45% of their asking price.
The next time you get ready to start a new website or blog, give this marketing trick a try. Remember, Google does not trust new domain names, but you can buy that trust with aged domain names that Google already trusts. That’s why network marketing internet business owners are doing it.
Outsourcing Help For Your Network Marketing Internet Business
When you are building a network marketing internet business, there is a LARGE amount of work that you have to do. Besides all the article writing that you have to do, there are a ton of things that you have to do to get your network ranked. Don’t do all this work yourself.
You are the brainchild of your marketing business and your time is more valuable if it is used in strategy development. For many tasks, such as article writing and link building, outsource these tasks out to someone else. You’ll build your income stream much faster than if you try to do all these thing by yourself.
There are many professional writers and computer geeks all over the world. There are places where you can hire this type of help for as little as $2.50/hour. And, if you are doing the type of work that you could hire someone else to do it for $2.50, than what YOU are actually earning is $2.50/hour. Aren’t you worth more than this?
How can you find great help at a low cost? Well, in the past I have used Elance and Rent-A-Coder to get some of my tasks done. But, the one I like best and use the most is called oDesk . With oDesk, you can interview and hire freelance contractors from around the world. It’s efficient and easy to use, almost as if they were in the office next door. Signing up at oDesk is free. Check it out
– you don’t even have to give them a credit card number to look the site over.
If you have a job that needs to be done, there are two ways to get a contractor at oDesk (oDesk calls them Providers) to get the job done. The first way is to post the job on oDesk and let Providers bid on your job. Once posted, you’ll normally have a dozen or more bids within 24 hours.
The second way – which is the way I do it in my network marketing internet business – is to search for Providers and ask them if they would be interested in the work. The information provided on oDesk about their Providers is what makes oDesk so much better than the rest. oDesk provides their Providers with the opportunity to take efficiency tests and their scores on these tests are provided to you. There are 312 tests in all and range from “U.S. English Basic Skills”, “U.S. Vocabulary”, “HTML 4.01″, to “Advanced Java”. Many, many, many different tests.
The Providers are happy to take these tests if they have the required skills because they know that it increases their chances of finding a job. When searching for Providers, you have a variety of ways to search for them. You can search by keyword, category(such as “writing and translation”), test scores, location, or by hourly rate.
After you enter your search criteria, you are given a list of potential Providers that you can review and choose from. ODesk provides you a host of information about each Provider including feedback from previous employers. oDesk also provides you information on how long it took the Provider to complete the job.
I often try to select Providers from the Philippines. They have an excellent work ethic and many of them are university students. Working for $3-$4/hr. is excellent pay for them and most of them have excellent English skills. But, always check them out.
I always ask a potential Provider to take a test before I hire them. For instance, if I need a number of articles written, I’ll ask them to write me an article. I tell them up front that if I like the article, I will pay them for it. But, if I don’t like it, I tell them that it’s not up to my standard.
Providing good, clear instructions to the Provider is so important. It’s best if you can show the Provider a video of what you want them to do. For example, if you want a Provider to build some back-links for you, take a few minutes and show the Provider on video the type of sites you want them to build back-links on and what type of information you want in those back-links.
If you have not done video before in your network marketing internet business, you can use sites like Camtasia or JingProject. Camtasia is very professional, but a bit expensive. JingProject is a brother site to Camtasia, but is free to use. The only problem to JingProject is that your videos are limited to 5 minutes or less. But, if you can’t provide enough information to your Provider with just one video, provide them with two videos. It’s free.
The last thing that I like to do when resourcing a Provider on oDesk is to ask them to connect with me over the internet using Skype. This enables me to talk directly to them to see if we can make a business-like connection and it allows me to judge their use of the English language.
After I have found and used a Provider, I review that Provider and provide that information to oDesk. I always try to be honest and straight-forward. I know that others will use my reviews to help their business’s.
If I am very pleased with a Provider, I try to stay in touch and use them on future jobs. I even try to further develop them. For example, I had one Provider who did an excellent back-link development job for me and he spoke good English. I asked him if he wanted to try writing some articles for me. He said that he had never done that before, but that he would try. He’s now one of my best freelance writers.
Don’t do all this work yourself! Your network marketing internet business needs you as the captain of the ship – not doing all the grunt work. Steer the ship and outsource the manual labor.
