Off-page optimization accounts for about 80% of how well your website will get ranked. And, off-page optimization is just another way of saying that if you want to get ranked, you have to get back links to your website. A few weeks ago, I posted an article that gave some great pointers on how to find places to get those back links. If you haven’t read it, read it now. Now, that is one easy way to get back links… and here is another way. Get your website listed in authoritative directories!
I know, I know, I know… many people will tell you that this is an “old school way” to get back links and that directories just don’t work any more. And, for the most part, that’s true.
Most directories allow you to auto-submit your website into these directories and for the most part your website is included in their directories with a link to your website. And, Google’s search engine spiders don’t like this. So, when they find these kind of links to your website, they don’t give much credit to these links.
But, there are three directories that the Google spiders do give a lot of back linking credit to. So much credit, in fact, that it’s difficult to get on Google’s first page if you don’t have at least one of these directories giving you a back link.
Just a moment… I’ll give you the names of these directories in a minute. First let me tell you why the Google Spiders like these three directories.
All of the content on the websites that are submitted to these three directories are human reviewed… and the Google Bots just love that!
In fact, Google would prefer that all of the content on every website should be human reviewed. But, Google can’t do that so they are ecstatic when they find another service that is human reviewing the content for them. That’s why these three directories are loved by the Google’s search engine spiders.
Best Directories For Back Links
These three directories are:
1. Best of the Web In business since 1994, Best of the Web is one of the oldest directories. And, yes, if you want to submit your website for their approval, it will cost you a small amount of money. But, it’s not much and it only takes them two days for them to review your website.
2. DMOZ The DMOZ directory is widely known and it’s also wisely known on how difficult it is to get into. Submit your website and you’re going to wait many months to find out if they will include you in their directory. And, don’t check on the progress of your submission because you won’t hear back from them.
3. Yahoo Another very popular directory, the Yahoo directory is costly to get into… last time I checked it was $299/year. Yahoo’s directory is not as time consuming to get into as DMOZ, but it will still take months. And, once again, don’ ask for updates.
Getting your website on the first page of search engine results is the key to getting lots of free traffic. And, getting on those first results requires a lot of back linking, especially high authoritative back links that these three directory services can provide you.
So, take advantage of an internet income opportunity and grab either, one, two, or all three of these three directory services.
Key Income Opportunity Home Based Business Secrets
The key ingredient to a successful income opportunity home based business is getting lots of traffic to your website. Now, there are two ways to do that:
1. Pay for that traffic by using Google Adwords (or, something similar to it), or
2. Getting your website ranked highly on the search engines so that your website gets loads of FREE TRAFFIC.
Both of these ways work. Unfortunately, it’s expensive to pay for that traffic and unless you’re a Master at Google Adwords, you’ll rarely make a profit.
That’s why I stay away from Google Adwords…besides, I like getting FREE TRAFFIC…it just takes longer to do.
Let’s talk about how to get FREE TRAFFIC…lots of it.
SEO Is The Key Secret Of An Income Opportunity Home Based Business
To get a lot of FREE TRAFFIC to your website you have to get your website ranked on the first page of the search engines for your keyword terms. To do that, you have to two things correctly…on-page optimization and off-page optimization.
On-page optimization only accounts for about 20-30% of how well the search engines will rank your website. That’s not much, but it is still important.
In this article, I don’t want to talk much about on-page optimization. Besides, a few months back I wrote an article about this and if you want to learn more about it, you can go there and read it now. The article is called Internet Income Opportunitys On-Page SEO Tips.
Off-page optimization accounts for 70-80% of how well the search engines will rank your website. And, while “off-page optimization” sounds pretty fancy and a bit technical, it’s really not.
Off-page optimization just means that you need to get backlinks back to your website from other websites or pages on the internet…the more, the better!
And, it really helps if you get these backlinks from sites that have high Page Rank…the higher, the better!
So, how do you go about getting backlinks (backlinks that count…more on that in a minute) and getting these backlinks from sites that have high Page Rank?
First off, you need a tool on your computer called SEOQuake…don’t worry it’s FREE (read my article A Network Marketing Internet Business Backlinking Trick to learn more about this tool).
After you have SEOQuake installed on your computer, you now have to find blogs and websites that allow you to leave comments and postings with a link back to your site…a link that is a dofollow link!
What do I mean by that?
Well, there are two types of backlinks that you can make…a dofollow backlink or a nofollow backlink.
Wikipedia defines a nofollow link as “a value that can be assigned to the rel attribute of an HTML a element to instruct some search engines that a hyperlink should not influence the link target’s ranking in the search engine’s index. It is intended to reduce the effectiveness of certain types of search engine spam, thereby improving the quality of search engine results and preventing spamdexing from occurring.”
In other words, if you look at the HTML code for a nofollow link, you will see something similar to what you see below:
Notice the rel=”nofollow”…thus, this link would be a nofollow link and the search engines would not give any backlink with this type of attribute any consideration for ranking purposes.
Unfortunately, most blogs and websites that are created only allow you to leave a comment or posting using this nofollow attribute…that’s why you need SEOQuake.
If you’re using SEOQuake, you can instantly tell if a website is using the dofollow or nofollow attribute. Not only that, by using SEOQuake, you can instantly see what type of Page Rank the site has…if they have any Page Rank at all.
If you’re trying to improve your website’s ranking, don’t waste your time leaving a comment where it will only get a nofollow attribute.
Now, here is one more secret!
Do you know what types of blogs and websites most often do have the dofollow attribute? Thet are those that use KeywordLuv for their comments.
Caution…However! Not all KeywordLuv blogs are dofollow. The purpose of installing KeywordLuv is to make your blog a dofollow blog, but some website owners fail to enable the plugin after it is installed…always use SEOQuake to make sure it is dofollow.
So, how do you find KeywordLuv blogs and websites that are related to your particular niche?
Let’s say your looking for blogs and websites related to jewelry…go to Google and type in the following:
That’s all you have to do…just enter intitle:jewelry “KeywordLuv” and click “Search”. Now you have a list of blogs and websites that are using KeywordLuv and are most likely using the dofollow attribute…just remember to check using SEOQuake.
